First Big Adventure in the Van – Burning Man 2011

This was my first major trip with the van. The artist and I (as well as a few other friends and family members that were helping) were not able to get the paint job finished in time, but the van still turned tons of heads none the less. This was her inaugural voyage in her new funkafied form, which is fitting as the theme for Burning Man that year was ‘Rights of Passage’.

We had a small breakdown in Buford Wyoming (the smallest town in all of the USA, population 1). It was on a Saturday night and come Sunday morning, we got towed into the next big town. However everything was closed as it was a Sunday.. everything except WalMart. Luckily were were able to grab a tow hitch for under $100. We hitched up the van behind our friends RV and we all piled in to make an even bigger burner family. After arriving at Burning Man I got the help of some guys from the VW Bus camp. Within 15 minutes we had her up and running again. Despite the minor malfunction, we all had the time of our lives and the van was great.
