I am extremely happy to announce that we have started a fundraising campaign for the Canadian Cancer Society.
For those who haven’t had a look at the About Page, the journey from Canada to South America in the hippie van is in part, in memory of two special people whom I have lost in recent years to Cancer. Erin Belman (my late cousin) and Jim Sissakis (my late close friend). Both of whom are in my thoughts. If I took anything away from the unfortunate deaths of my cousin and friend, it is that life is short and we need to make the most of the time we are given. The Hippie Van Man was partly inspired by my desire to live this mantra. Feel free to check out Reminders of Carpe Diem; Lessons from a fallen friend for more insights.
Because cancer has personally impacted those that I love, I decided to make it part of this project. I will be hosting a fundraising campaign to support the mission of the Canadian Cancer Society. This will be done online as well as via multiple real-world events (which I will post in the coming months). The money raised helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives; provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocate for healthy public policies.
